Attorney Shannon Snedaker received an honorable recognition for being the founding member of Seminole County Florida Association for Women Lawyers. As the founding member, she served as the inaugural President for the organization from 2018 – 2020. The organization, which is a chapter of the state Florida Association for Women Lawyers, was established in November of 2018. The state organization, which promotes gender equality in the legal profession and supports women in leadership roles, was founded in 1951. Seminole County did not have its own chapter until Attorney Snedaker took the initiative to establish one. The Seminole County Florida Association for Women Lawyers now has about 50 members and has devoted itself to bettering the legal community and supporting women in leadership roles in Seminole County. In its short existence, the organization has successfully planned charitable fundraisers, receptions to honor members of the judiciary and judicial assistants, as well as provide ongoing educational opportunities to local attorneys.
